Connect Claude to PioneerIP

PioneerIP is listed in Claude's Connectors Directory. Connect it once with your normal PioneerIP login and Claude can work with your patent intelligence in plain language, on claude.ai, in Claude Desktop, on mobile and in Claude Code. No URLs, no API keys.

What you need

A PioneerIP account on any plan. Don't have one yet? Start at pioneerip.com.
A Claude account on any plan. On Claude Team and Enterprise, an organization Owner enables PioneerIP for the organization first; members who cannot enable it themselves see a Request button that sends the request to their admins.

Set up

Once per Claude account, about a minute. The connection then follows you to Claude Desktop, Claude mobile and Claude Code.

1 · Connect PioneerIP

In claude.ai open Customize → Connectors and press + to browse the directory. From a chat you can also press +, hover Connectors and choose Manage connectors.
Find PioneerIP (search, or look under Legal and Research) and press Connect. Claude may first show a reminder that this is a third-party connector; continue.
PioneerIP's connect page opens. Sign in with your usual PioneerIP login and press Approve. You are returned to Claude, connected.

2 · Switch it on in a conversation

In the chat press + (or type /), hover Connectors and toggle PioneerIP on.
Ask in plain language. For example: "Using PioneerIP, what should I do next?" Claude picks the right PioneerIP tool on its own; naming PioneerIP just makes sure it does.

Other Claude apps

Claude Desktop and Claude mobile use the same connectors as claude.ai. Once connected, PioneerIP is available there with no extra steps.
Claude Code loads the connectors from your claude.ai account when you sign in with it. Run /mcp inside a session to see PioneerIP and authenticate if asked.
Team and Enterprise: an Owner enables PioneerIP under Organization settings → Connectors; each member then connects with their own PioneerIP login.

Advanced: add PioneerIP by URL

You only need this if the directory is not available to you, for example an organization that allows custom connectors only, or Claude Code without a claude.ai sign-in. Use the URL below and leave every authentication field empty; sign-in happens on PioneerIP's own page.

In claude.ai: Customize → Connectors → + → Add custom connector, name it PioneerIP, paste the URL, press Add, then Connect. In Claude Code:

then run /mcp in a session, select pioneerip and choose Authenticate.

What Claude can do

The connector exposes the same tools as PioneerIP's in-app Copilot, 44 of them, always scoped to the account you signed in with.

Answer questions with evidence

Over your infringement, validity and patentability searches, portfolios, products and claim charts, element by element, with the evidence links behind each match.

Generate reports

Executive, portfolio, company-intelligence and portfolio-comparison reports, free, and quote their conclusions straight into the conversation. PDFs on request.

Watch risk and deadlines

Litigation scans, expiry watch, most-targeted companies and target overlap across your portfolios.

Draft and optimize claims

Candidate claims from a plain-language description, or amendments to an existing application's claim with a stated objective: broaden, capture a target, avoid prior art, clarify.

Search your documents

Full-text search across the documents you have uploaded to PioneerIP.

Start work, with your approval

Start or retry searches and upgrade claim charts to Pro. Each is quoted with its exact credit cost and runs only after you confirm.

Credits, usage history and usage alerts are available too, so you can ask Claude how much you have left before starting anything.

Costs and safety

Reading is free. Questions, claim charts, reports, drafting and document search never spend credits.

Spending always asks first. Only new searches, search retries and Pro chart upgrades cost credits. Claude proposes the action, shows the exact cost, and runs it only after you explicitly confirm, the same safeguard as the in-app Copilot. A confirmation is single-use, so the same action cannot run twice by accident.

Everything Claude does through the connector is visible in the app immediately: started searches appear in your history, and credits update in your balance.

Privacy and access

What Claude can reach	Only the PioneerIP account you signed in with. Organization-level tools honor your organization role, exactly as in the app.
What PioneerIP receives	The tool requests Claude makes on your behalf and their inputs, for example the patent number you asked about or the invention description you asked it to draft from. Your wider conversation stays with Claude.
How you sign in	Through PioneerIP's own login page (OAuth 2.1 with PKCE). No password or API key is ever typed into Claude.
Tokens	Access tokens expire after one hour and are renewed automatically for up to 90 days of use; each renewal retires the previous token.
Policy	PioneerIP privacy policy, including data retention.

Known limits

No push notifications. Claude is not told when a search or report finishes. Ask "is my search done?" and it will check.
Uploads happen in the app. Documents for document search are uploaded in PioneerIP, not through Claude.
One account per connection. To use a different PioneerIP account, disconnect and connect again.
"Community" label. Until Anthropic completes its in-depth review, the directory shows PioneerIP as a Community connector and Claude reminds you of that before connecting. The label describes Anthropic's review status, not how the connector works.

Disconnecting

Open Customize → Connectors in Claude and remove PioneerIP (if you added it by URL in Claude Code, run claude mcp remove pioneerip). Claude discards its tokens, and any outstanding token expires on its own. To have a connection revoked on PioneerIP's side immediately, email support@pioneerip.com.

Troubleshooting

I cannot find PioneerIP in the directory

On a Team plan, press Request on the PioneerIP card so your admins can enable it, or ask an Owner to enable it under Organization settings → Connectors. If the directory is unavailable to you altogether, use the advanced by-URL steps above.

Claude does not use PioneerIP in my chat

Connectors are switched on per conversation. Press +, hover Connectors and make sure PioneerIP is toggled on, then ask again.

"Connection expired" or "Reconnect"

Open Customize → Connectors, press Reconnect on PioneerIP and sign in again. If you added PioneerIP by URL, check it is exactly https://api.pioneerip.com/mcp with the authentication fields left empty.

The connect page will not accept my login

Use the same email you use at app.pioneerip.com. If you can sign in there but not on the connect page, write to support with the time of the attempt.

Claude says it cannot spend credits

Your balance is too low for the proposed action. Ask Claude for your balance, or top up in the app under Credits.

Claude answers from stale data

Ask it to check again. Each tool call reads live data, but Claude may reuse an earlier answer within the same conversation.
